We take this combo and use it weekly in our pond but it is non a very good performer subsequently some use for my picayune ones. They constantly have issues reeling in even with the drag set tight and the casting is very lackluster. Get the micro 33 instead honestly. The rod is ok for kids and has come apart a few times when reeling in a bluegill only otherwise fine for a child.

Thanks for the recommendation @smokeytreats. I have an 8 twelvemonth old for the life of him cannot not tangle into a hot mess every fourth dimension we go fishing with a spinning reel. Oddly plenty, my 4 year olddoesn't get tangled with the same spinning reel philharmonic. I'g researching the zebco 33 micro now due to your recommendation. Tight lines!

The 33 is going to exist a huge upgrade over this. Not sure if it is possible to observe the loftier cease ones.
This one here uses all plastic gears. 20 years ago they were all improve made. I'd purchase and replace the bearings upgrade them. Used spincasters exclusively for over ten years. Friend handed me a bait pulley. Line-fishing got a lot more expensive later on that.
But really, I had a lot success with this type of reels. Just get a 33 or something similar. Endeavour garage sales and you'll probably find them at this toll.

The Zebco 33 [walmart.com] reel is 1 of the best reviewed, more inexpensive reels, and I utilize them all the fourth dimension in the pond we fish in. They're fine for up to 2 or 3 pound bass, which is about the biggest we usually run into. Last fourth dimension I bought a 33 was a couple of years ago earlier Covid, so now I run into it's most double the price!
When I was kayak fishing I put a 33 on this little Dock Demon rod [walmart.com] because it was so durable and easy to proceed from hanging up in trees considering information technology's so short. You can bend this rod double, though, and non interruption it, and so it's actually durable for kids and fairly easy for them to behave around. The reel it comes with is consummate plastic junk, but it might concord up for a bream or two. I just put the 33 on information technology and took off.
Here's a Micro 33 rod and reel combo [walmart.com], but they're not quite as well reviewed as the total size 33.
